Snap On blade cleaning and maintenance
Clean Snap On blades when the cutting performance decreases or when, for example, hair gets between the blades and the shaving head plucks.
Maintenance and care of A5 (Snap On or Clip) blades
- To do this, push the blade more than halfway to one side and clean the gap thoroughly with the cleaning brush.
- Then slide the blade to the other side and repeat the process.
- Push the blade back and oil the shaving head.
Thorough cleaning
If the blade still does not cut after simple maintenance, there is a hair between the precision blades exactly in the middle, please remove the blade completely by pushing it all the way out. Clean the plates thoroughly with a soft cloth (toilet paper is best) and replace the blade (follow the instructions for blade replacement).
Shearing blade guide and blade replacement
When you change the blades (possible in ceramic or steel for GogiPet blades) or replace the blade guide (white here, but can also be black or grey depending on the manufacturer).
- Slide the blade completely out of the clamp.
- Replace the (plastic) blade guide and/or the replacement blade.
To replace the blade, lift the clamp slightly with a flat screwdriver. (Do not overstretch when lifting slightly).
Just high enough for you to push the blade back in.
Insert the blade approximately in the middle and oil the shaving head
Important note!
Never open the screws on the front of the blade, you will adjust the plate pressure and render the clipper head unusable.
Oil Snap On blades every 5-10 minutes to avoid overheating, especially with newer clippers with a faster stroke rate, blades heat up very quickly.
Extra cooling and oiling sprays specially developed for blades are recommended, as you can continue working immediately without having to wipe off the oil.

Applications of the blades with Snap On (A5) system
Suitable for all clippers that work with standard blades. (Snap On or also called A5 or Clip blades.
Here you will find the A5 blades, the most popular A5 blades are also available as titanium shear heads with ceramic blades.
The information given here should only be a guide, it is of course a matter of taste and it always depends on the density of the coat.
Before each clipping, the dog should be well washed and brushed out.

Snap On blades with clip system
Snap On blades or clip blades are the standard system used by most hairdressers and dog hairdressers worldwide. The advantage of Snap On blades compared to blades with individual systems is that the blades can be changed between all manufacturers using the Snap On system and can be changed quickly and without tools. This has led to the great breakthrough of this system. In the United States, Oster grew very quickly and was then taken over by other nutritious manufacturers such as Wahl, Moser, Optimum, GogiPet, Heiniger etc. All Snap On blades sold by Onlinezoo are manufactured in a special heat/cold process to make the steel extra hard and reduce wear. Onlinezoo also offers shaving heads with titanium coating and ceramic blade from GogiPet® which glide even more easily through the fur and develop even less heat than standard Snap On blades.
Dog hairdresser Vienna tip:
To ensure that you can enjoy your blades for a long time, it is best to use an oil and cooling spray during clipping and spray the blades regularly. Dogs must always be bathed and dried and completely brushed and combed. If matted areas are to remain in the coat, do not try to cut into tangles, but use a blade short enough to shear under the mattes and remove it.
Small hairs at delivery are normal as every single GogiPet blade is factory tested on test material, it is not a used blade.
